Request to Comment at Public Meeting

  1. Who can give public comment at Westmoreland County Board of Commissioner Public Meetings?
County residents and taxpayers may address the Board of Commissioner at all Commissioners Public Meetings. Pennsylvania law requires that this opportunity be afforded only to residents or taxpayers of the County. The Board accordingly reserves the right to verify residence and/or taxpayer status prior to permitting any individual to speak. Any persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  2. How long can I speak?
Presentations must be limited to three minutes, subject to the discretion of the Board of Commissioners
  3. Act 20 of the General Assembly of Pennsylvania (enacted June 15, 1993 and amended by Act 93 on October 15, 1998) provides for reasonable opportunity for residents of or taxpayers to Westmoreland County to comment on matters of concern, official action, or deliberation which are or may be before the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners prior to the taking of official action. The term “official action” is defined in the Sunshine Act to include: “a vote…on any motion, proposal, resolution, rule, regulation, ordinance, report or order; establishment of policy; decisions on agency business and recommendations made by an agency pursuant to statute, ordinance or executive order.” In order to avail yourself the opportunity to comment you must provide the following information:
