1. I have a pacemaker. What will happen to me?

The metal detector will have no effect. However, if you have a medical card or a medical condition, please inform the officers before walking through the machine.

2. I am pregnant. Can I go through the detector?

The metal detector will not affect you or the baby.

3. I have a firearm. What should I do?

Upon arrival at the Courthouse, inform county park police officers that you have a firearm in your possession. Do not pull the firearm out until you are instructed to do so. You will be provided with a safe secure lockbox for your firearm.

4. Will the X-ray machine erase my cassette tapes or disks?

No.

5. Why do I have to put cigarettes with the metal?

The aluminum foil will set off the metal detector.

6. Will my steel toe shoes set off the detector?

Yes. Tell the officers before entering the machine.

7. Are cameras permitted in the courthouse facility?

No. Cameras are not permitted in the courthouse or family court. However, cameras are permitted in the lobby. Cameras will be able to be used under certain circumstances deemed appropriate by Westmoreland County Park Police and President Judge.

8. I don't have any metal - just loose change.

Coin change is metal and will set off the alarm.

9. Will my glasses or belt buckle set off the alarm?

Sometimes they will and sometimes they won’t. To be safe, place all metal objects in the container.
