Governor Wolf Announces Stolen Valor Law Protecting Benefits For Service Members, Veterans Now In Effect:
Governor Tom Wolf reminded Pennsylvanians that the stolen valor law, protecting benefits for Pennsylvania service members and veterans, is now in effect, approximately 60 days since it was signed in late June. “It is our duty to be certain that benefits, resources, and job opportunities set aside solely for our service members and veterans remain as such and this law will help us do that,” Governor Wolf said.

9/11 Memorial Service Set For Sept. 10 In Chambersburg:
A 9/11 memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. at Letterkenny Chapel, 2171 Carbaugh Ave., Chambersburg, PA (Franklin County) by the United Churches of the Chambersburg area and partners. Building A Community Of Veterans:
While most other students had just finished high school, Zach Bedford, now 23, spent the previous year serving a nine-month tour in Afghanistan in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. For These Women Veterans, It Wasn’t Combat Trauma That Led To PTSD:
Connie Davis was afraid to go into the bathroom. Fire escapes and stairwells at the Air Force bases where she was stationed also stirred fear. Enemies within the ranks could be lurking in such secluded spots. But Airman Davis, who started as a mechanic after joining the Air Force in 1974, said she was sexually assaulted despite her efforts to avoid places where she might be vulnerable. Read more.
Funds Being Raised For Wreaths Across America Event At North Huntingdon Cemetery:
Motivated by her own family's loss, a North Huntingdon woman is on a mission to remember deceased veterans by putting wreaths on their graves in time for Christmas. “I feel I owe it to myself to pay respects to other veterans,” said Rhonda Hunt, 55, who is leading a local initiative of Wreaths Across America, a Maine-based nonprofit that enlists volunteers across the nation to place wreaths on the graves of veterans on Dec. 16, designated as National Wreaths Across America Day. DoD Releases Clarifying Guidance To Veterans Regarding Discharges And Military Records:
The Department of Defense released clarifying guidance for discharges and military records reviews. In the past few years, the department has issued guidance for consideration of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) but there remained some questions about how the guidance applied to sexual assault, sexual harassment, or mental health conditions other than PTSD.
