A new scam call is going around where the caller identifies himself as a Deputy Sheriff. In some instances, they are using actual names of Deputies. They also have an app that has the caller ID display the main number to our office (724-830-3822).
The caller claims you signed a subpoena to testify for a case with Judge Stewart. He then informs you there is a warrant for your arrest and threatens you with being booked, fingerprinted and having your mugshot taken. The call eventually evolves to requiring an amount of money that needs to be paid. THIS IS A SCAM!!!! The Sheriff’s Office will never ask for payment over the phone.
Do NOT give out any checking or debit/credit card information.
Do NOT purchase gift cards and give the numbers out.
Hang up immediately.
If you want to verify if any calls from the Sheriff’s Office are legitimate, please call their main line at 724-830-3822.
