Pennsylvania has been an active participant in the Governor’s Challenge: To Prevent Suicide Among Service Members, Veterans and Their Families. OMHSAS is pleased to share the opportunity to offer Military Cultural Competency Training provided by Psych Armor at no cost.  Additional information about the training content can be found in the attached slide deck, and registration and information on accessing the training portal is attached.  These 15 trainings will be available through the portal through December 2025.

This initiative is made possible by the Governor’s Challenge: To Prevent Suicide Among Servicemembers, Veterans, and their Families, The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and a partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). SAMHSA’s Servicemembers, Veterans, and their Families Technical Assistance (SMVF TA) Center works with states and communities to strengthen their behavioral health systems serving Servicemembers, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF). The Center provides support through the provision of technical assistance and the promotion of ongoing interagency collaboration.  This no-cost training opportunity is part of Pennsylvania’s ongoing suicide prevention efforts through a collaboration with Pysch Armor providing an extensive selection of military cultural competency trainings via the portals noted in the attached flyer.  Please take advantage of these evidenced based trainings available now, and work in partnership to provide services to Service Members, Veterans and military families in PA!

We have ability to train 300 people on a first come first serve basis. Please share this opportunity with appropriate staff, and register early!
