Urban Violence Traumatic Stress Response Syndrome (UVTS) is a concept developed by Dr. Erwin Randolph Parsons. UVTS is not a diagnosis that you can find in the DSM-V; rather, it is a concept that explains how many urban youth became afflicted with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. While working extensively with inner-city youth. Dr. Parsons discovered that many of these youth were showing the same signs and symptoms as people that were diagnosed with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Symptoms tend to be exacerbated by multiple traumas resulting from a saturated environment where one or more of the following were present; drugs, gums, arson, and other random acts of violence and further, often lit-tle or no supervision or parental guidance. This training will cover the causes, symptoms, and treatments of Urban Violence Traumatic Response Syndrome.
