[ARCHIVED] Prepare to be scared at the Hobgoblin Hikes!

Hobgoblin 2016 1

Hikes will be held at Northmoreland Park on Saturday, October 19 and Mammoth Park on Saturday, October 26. Can you handle the Parks in the dark?!?!

Hobgoblin Hikes to be held at Northmoreland Park and Mammoth Park in 2019

The annual Hobgoblin Hikes are just around the corner! The only free events of their kind in our area, these hikes are sponsored by Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation and will only be cancelled due to dangerous and severe weather. The hikes alternate between four regional parks every year; in 2019, hikes will be offered at Northmoreland Park on Saturday, October 19, and at Mammoth Park on Saturday, October 26. Hikes run continuously from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Recommended for ages eight and over, the Hobgoblin Hikes are half-mile guided outdoor walks through the haunted woods of the park.  Visitors can expect to be led through tunnels and cemeteries, and past more than 100 zombies, ghosts and monsters. No two hikes are exactly the same and each park has unique haunted scenes.

The Hobgoblin Hikes are a safe family alternative to conventional trick-or-treating. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children.  Monetary donations are greatly appreciated!

Volunteers ages 15 and over are needed to serve as trail guides or work at scare stations. There will be a volunteer meeting before each hike and we encourage you to attend. Limited costumes and props will be available for loan if you wish. Please call (724) 830-3959 if you wish to volunteer your talents – group participation is highly encouraged!

Northmoreland Park is located in Allegheny Township, accessible via Route 356 from Routes 66 and 56. Mammoth Park is located in Mt. Pleasant Township, accessible via Greensburg-Mt. Pleasant Road and Routes 981 and 982.

For more info, please call Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation at (724) 830-3950 or visit our website at www.co.westmoreland.pa.us/parks.
