On this day, employees can make donations to help Georgia in her recovery with liver cancer and if any employee chooses to do so, can also donate vacation days to Georgia.

Donations can be dropped off in the Commissioner’s Office; the paperwork for vacation day donation will be available with Amanda Bernard, Assistant Chief Clerk.

A Message from Georgia & Family:

Georgia Ferry has been employed by the Westmoreland County Treasurer’s Office for the past 10 years. She had worked at the Prison, Juvenile, IDC and many other offices in the Courthouse before settling with the Treasurer’s. She is 55 years old and has been married to her husband David for 16 years. She has two children from a prior marriage, Chad, a son who lives in New York and a daughter, Tina, who works in the W.C. Prothonotary Office and who has blessed Georgia with two beautiful granddaughters. David and Georgia also have a 10 year old daughter who is in 5th grade and active in the 4-H program. As an active wife, Mom, sister and daughter, it was a shock for her to suddenly be told her whole life would change in an instant. In the spring of this year Georgia was diagnosed with liver cancer and underwent several chemo and other treatments, as well as an operation which she is currently recovering from. Though she has worked throughout her treatments and procedures and plans on returning to work just as soon as she can be released from the most recent operation, she has exhausted her sick and vacation days. She will need days for her upcoming chemo treatments even as she works through them. She has a strong faith in God and a positive outlook that she will be healed completely. But now she needs your help. Please consider donating any day or days you feel comfortable sharing so she can continue her treatments and still keep working.
