[ARCHIVED] Volunteer Van Drivers sought to transport veterans to Pittsburgh VA medical appointments

Westmoreland County Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking volunteer van drivers to transport Westmoreland County veterans to VA medical appointments in Pittsburgh.  Volunteer drivers operate the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) van service  at no cost to riders. The VA office of Voluntary Services screens and approves van drivers. Some volunteers drive on a weekly basis, while others drive a few days a month to provide this valuable service to those who have served. For more information on becoming a volunteer driver please call 724-830-3530.

Seating on the vans is available on a first-come, first-served basis for eligible veterans; bona fide caregivers are  eligible to accompany veterans provided space is available and that their assistance is medically necessary.

Van service is scheduled from:

  •  Central Westmoreland County Monday through Friday;,
  • Northwest Westmoreland are scheduled   Thursdays,
  •  Donegal - Tuesday through Friday .  

Rides are scheduled to coordinate with medical appointments between 9 am ana noon at University Drive and Oakland campuses.
