[ARCHIVED] VAPHS Veterans Arts submissions by Jan. 15th

Veteran artists are invited to submit a work of art or perform something creative for the upcoming VAPHS Veterans creative arts show. Categories include painting, carving, photography, jewelry, leather work, metal work, mosaics, poetry, essays, dance, and music.

Deadline for submissions is Jan. 15.

All About the Arts 2019

VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System

All Veterans who receive care at VA Pittsburgh are eligible to participate in our 2019 art show, set for Jan. 30-31 at our H.J.Heinz III campus.  

Entry deadline is 4 p.m. Jan. 15. For entry information, contact: Krystal Neal [email protected] 412-822-3083 

EVENT DATES AND LOCATIONS Jan. 30 Applied Arts Entries on Display 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. H.J. Heinz III campus Building 71, Learning eXchange 

Jan. 31 Performing Arts Live Performances 12:30 p.m. start time H.J. Heinz III campus Bldg. 51. Recreation Hall  

Top entries in each category have the opportunity to advance to the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival Competition.

 Applied and Fine Art categories include (but may not be limited to): Acrylic painting Watercolor Carving Pastels Mosaic Knotting, glass work Drawing: colored or monochromatic Photography: color or black and white Fine art Mixed media Ceramics: glazed, painted or stained Pyrography (original design) Jewelry (no beads) Leather stamping Needlework (original design) Fiber arts (original design) Leather carving/tooling Scroll saw/fretwork 

Applied arts mixed media Woodworking Knitting/crochet Assemblage Bead work Metalwork Collage Pottery Graphics Sculpture Oil paintings Kits include: Leather Wood building Fabric art Paint by number Transfer/engraving art kits Model building (plastic, wood or metal) String art Sun catcher Sand art Mosaic Figurine painting Latch hook Craft coloring Needlework 

Creative writing includes: Poetry Essay Personal experience Short story monologue/duologue 

Dance includes: Solo and group Ambulatory and wheelchair Structured Novelty Country/folk/ethnic cultural Freestyle Hip hop Interpretive movement Tap Jazz Ballet Senior and special recognition 

Drama includes: Solo and group original and existing works Comedy Prose Poetry Interpretive performance Mime Juggling Magic Puppetry/ventriloquism Multimedia video Senior and special recognition 

Music includes: Solo or group, instrumental and vocal Original compositions

All Veterans who receive care through VA Pittsburgh are eligible to enter (including Veteran employees.) Complete an entry form and return with your completed submission to Krystal Neal by Jan. 15.
