National Adoption Day is held in November. Here at Westmoreland County through the graciousness of donations made by Idlewild Park and the Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau Advisory Board, children adopted from July 2012 through June 2013 had a chance to attend the Adoption Day Picnic on July 31, 2013 at Idlewild Park.
We had a wonderful turn out! We had 14 families with a total of approximately 125 family members attend. Also in attendance were the County Paralegals, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Solicitors, the Family Court Master and Caseworkers present to celebrate this occasion. Matt Junker, Chief of Staff from Commissioner Charles Anderson’s office was the guest speaker during the picnic and Kristin Malie, Chief of Staff from Commissioner Tyler Courtney’s office delivered congratulations to the adoptive families as well.
The celebration takes several months of preparation comprised on efforts from various county personnel and professionals. Refreshments were available for those in attendance.
The Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau would like to take this opportunity to thank those that donated to Adoption Day Picnic 2013. If you would like information about sponsoring or donating to Adoption Day Picnic 2014, please contact Wallie Tobin, County Manager at the Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau.
