Latrobe, 9 November 2018-- Army SGT Mark “Brian” Zebracki was awarded the 2nd annual Saint Vincent College Veteran Scholarship on the campus of the Latrobe college today. Mr. Zebracki is pursuing his master's degree in Criminal Justice. Mrs. Zoe Walters, wife of Mr. Anderson “Sandy” Walters, and one of the establishing donors of the Scholarship, presented the award check to Mr. Zebracki.
The Scholarship was established last year due largely as a result of the efforts of Mr. Jim Bendel, Capt (Ret), United States Navy Reserve, and Mr. Richard Schulte. Mr. Bendel is the Director of Planned Giving for Saint Vincent College.
Mr. Patrick Counihan was also recognized at the midday ceremony for receiving a ROTC scholarship. In 2017, Mr. August Sander was the inaugural recipient of the Veteran Scholarship. .
At lunch with his fellow student veterans, alumni, and friends of the College, Mr. Zebracki stated that the award was appreciated not only for the financial assistance, but because it acknowledges the contribution of service to our nation that he and other student veterans have made, and that supporting the education of those who have served will enable them to continue to contribute to their communities even after military life. While he is at the beginning of his graduate study in criminal justice, Zebracki is interested in educating others and serving his fellow veterans upon completion of his degree.
