[ARCHIVED] Open Enrollment

Fall trees with words Open Enrollment 2019

It’s that time of year again… Open Enrollment. The County has been preparing and making changes for this year’s enrollment. We are moving to a core enrollment process which with be administered with the help of. Colonial Life. They will meet one-on-one with each eligible employee to enroll in our current health insurance (UPMC and Highmark), dental insurance (Delta Dental), and vision insurance (Vision Benefits of America) options. You will no longer have to log onto the portal to make these selections, the Colonial reps will complete this process.

They will also help enroll anyone interested in the Colonial Life products. An eligible employee is any full-time employee who has county insurance or the buyout. All eligible employees MUST meet with a representative. A representative will be coming to each department to meet with employees. In addition, there are multiple open enrollment fairs set up for employees to meet with an enroller and visit our vendors. The enrollment fair on the 30th and 31st of October will include treats and additional vendors. Don’t miss out!

In addition to the open enrollment process change, the County has made a change regarding voluntary benefits. Over the past few months, the County has been reevaluating the voluntary insurance programs that are presently offered in the County.   At this time, the County has decided to end payroll deductions with Aflac, Allstate, NY Life, and Washington National effective January 1, 2019.   If you are currently enrolled with one of these insurance programs, you still will be able to remain enrolled, but Aflac, Allstate, NY Life, and Washington National will need to bill you directly for the benefits beginning January 1, 2019. The County will continue to offer payroll deductions for voluntary benefit coverage through Colonial Life.  Colonial Life will be present during open enrollment to answer any questions, to review your benefit options and to assist you with enrollment. They will assess the current plans and compare them to what you currently have to help you make a determination. You are not required to switch carriers.

There has been a lot of preparation from Colonials Life’s enrollment team and HR to make this year’s enrollment as smooth as possible. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone in the HR team.
