[ARCHIVED] Westmoreland Diversity Coalition to host town hall series starting Oct. 2 at SVC

The Westmoreland Diversity Coalition will be holding “The Hearts and Minds of Our Youth,” a town hall series, to understand why younger individuals attend college within the Westmoreland County community but often leave the area to pursue alternative options.

The panelists will include students who will take questions from the moderator as well as the audience. The town hall series is free and open to the community.

The series will kick off Tuesday, Oct. 2, at St. Vincent College (SVC)’s Fred Rogers Center, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The moderator will be Westmoreland County commissioners chairwoman Gina Cerilli, Esq.



The event is sponsored by the Westmoreland Diversity Coalition and in part by First Energy Foundation and the Eden Hall Foundation but in partnership with St. Vincent College, Penn State New Kensington and Jeannette Initiative.

Other events in the series are scheduled, including:

• 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, Commissioners Hall Amphitheatre, Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC), Youngwood. Moderator: Chad Amond, president, Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce;

• 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, Jeannette American Legion. Moderator: Angela Aldous, co-founder, Voice of Westmoreland;

• 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, Penn State-New Kensington. Moderator: Yasmin Ray, Office of the Registrar, Penn State-New Kensington campus.
