Position: Program Manager
Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
The Programs Manager provides and coordinates program and personnel management for assigned agency and program activities.
Education/Training/Experience
Minimum: Master’s Degree in social services/psychology.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in social services/social work and 5 years progressive management and/or supervision experience in a non-profit setting.
The major responsibilities of the Program Manager are as follows:
Personnel Management/Supervision:
- Provide direct supervision of assigned agency programs, including reviewing timesheets and expense reports, conducting performance evaluations, and other supervisory tasks as appropriate.
- Participate and/or make recommendations regarding the hiring process.
- Facilitate internal communication with employees regarding agency policies, work schedules, etc.
- Review and approval of employee leave requests and management of flex-time and other scheduling.
- Maintain and develop agency personnel and other forms.
Program Management/Development:
- Provide program planning and overall program supervision.
- Monitor program financials on at least a quarterly basis; review program financial statements with program heads and other program staff.
- Develop, revise and evaluate program policies, forms and procedures.
- Facilitate and participate in formal and informal staff/department meetings.
- Conduct program planning/development and interpretation of overall program objectives.
- Advise employees on problems related to the overall delivery of services.
- Review and distribute program reports to funding sources.
- Function as the primary point of contact for public education activities.

- Must have knowledge of program and personnel management at a level generally acquired through 5+ years related experience.
- Must have a working knowledge of mental illness and experience working with people with disabilities.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Must have extensive working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
- Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated organizational skills needed to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Work requires a working knowledge of business procedures/practices and an excellent command of the English language.
- Analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
