The Westmoreland County Commissoiiners have proclaimed Aug. 12-17,2018, National Health Center Week, in recognition of the medical and behavioral health services provided by community health clinics nationwide. Here in Westmoreland County, Community Health Clinic, Inc., of New Kensington serves a wide cross-section of county residents. 

Shown in the photo with the Commissioners is  Mr. John Docherty, CFO of New Kensington's Community Health Clinic, Inc. Mr. Docherty announced at this morning's public meeting that they expect to expand to an additional location, in Greensburg, in 2019. The new facility is expected to offer primary care, dental, and behavioral health services for to insured, uninsured, and patients receiving medical assistance.

National Health Center Week August 12-18, 2018

For more than 50 years, community health centers have provided high quality, affordable, comprehensive primary and preventative health care in our nation’s underserved communities, delivering value to, and having a significant impact on, America’s health care system. As the country’s largest primary care network, health centers are the health care home for 27 million Americans in more than 10,000 communities across the nation. One in every 12 people in the United States gets their care in a community health center.

Health centers are on the front lines of emerging health care crisis, providing access to care, addressing the opioid epidemic, and responding to public health threats in the wake of natural disasters. National Health Center Week provides an opportunity to recognize America’s nearly 1,400 health center organizations with more than 10,400 service delivery sites, their dedicated staff, board members, patients and all those responsible for their continued success and growth since the first health centers opened its doors more than 50 years ago.
