[ARCHIVED] 2018-08-14 / Lifestyles Print article Print Harvest Church back-to-school outreach Saturday

Harvest Church, 220 Pittsburgh St., Derry Township, is putting on an outreach in August to help children go back to school with free hair cuts, school supplies, backpacks, clothes, lunch, and games. All ages are welcome.

Spokesman George Konetes said, “We want to reach as many people in the community as possible who might be in need. Last year we had close to a thousand people come for help.

The annual back-to-school celebration will be underway 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18; he recommends going early for the best selection.

Young children, older children, teens and adults are welcome. There will be clothing and lunch for all ages and all sizes.

Konetes added, “Several years ago Harvest Assembly Church began a clothing and school supplies outreach to the local community. The goal was to help children and families who were struggling with the financial and social pressures of back to school shopping and preparations.

“It wasn't long until the outreach grew into a full scale regional back-to-school celebration where families could get free clothing, accessories, haircuts, back-to-school supplies, lunch, and fun activities! God continues to use the event to help children and families with both simple and extraordinary needs. We invite you to come and celebrate with us!”
