Matt Zamosky, MSgt, USAF Ret., named President of Pennsylvania State Association of County Directors of Veterans Affairs 



Greensburg, 26 June 2018—Westmoreland County Director of Veteran Affairs Matt Zamosky assumed the duties of the Pennsylvania State Association of County Directors of Veterans Affairs (PSACDVA) on June 21st and will serve in that position for two years. Zamosky is a Unity Township resident and United States Air Force veteran, having served 20 years on active duty as a fuels specialist. An accredited Veterans Service Officer, he has headed the County’s Veterans Affairs department since January 2011. The office employs four full-time employees and currently two part-time veteran students.



County Directors of Veterans Affairs provide veterans and their dependents assistance to identify, determine eligibility and assist in the preparation of applications for County, State and Federal Veterans benefits and programs. Directors are also responsible for the payment of burial allowances and ensuring grave markers and headstones are properly requested and placed for each deceased County Veteran. They also provide direct application for State programs like Real Estate Tax Exemption, Veterans Emergency Assistance, Blind and Paralyzed Pensions and Education Gratuity for veterans rated a 100% Permanent and Total disability by the Veterans Administration.

Matt resides in Latrobe with his wife Wendy; they have a daughter, Sarah, who lives in Columbus, OH. He is a first vice commander of American Legion Post 982, Sergeant-at-arms for the 31st District of the American Legion,a life member of VFW Post 33, member of the Enlisted Association Chapter 98, serves on the Social Work Academic Advisory Board at Seton Hill University, serves as a Director for the Pennsylvania Veterans Foundation, and co-chairs the Veterans Advisory Board at VA Healthcare Pittsburgh
