The month of April is devoted to celebrating everything we can do to transform our community into a place that cares about and actively supports families and children. Every child is entitled to be loved, cared for, secure and protected from verbal, sexual, emotional and physical abuse, exploitation and neglect. In 2017, the Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau, having custody of 396 children who have suffered abuse and neglect of which the majority of those cases stem from situations and conditions that were entirely preventable, with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Westmoreland, Inc. serving 184 of these children.
The Commissioners of Westmoreland County, Gina Cerilli, Ted Kopas and Charles W. Anderson, do hereby recognize April 2018 as National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
