Annual Unity Celebration hosted by Westmoreland Diversity Coalition
The Westmoreland Diversity Coalition will host its annual Unity Celebration from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Ferrante's Lakeview in Hempfield Township. The event is free to the public.
Sponsored by Excela Health, The Jeannette Initiative and Westmoreland Community Action, the event is a family friendly affair with activities for children and adults. More than 25 organizations will have tables promoting their services, sharing information and giving away information and goodies.
The celebration will begin with an inspirational message from Melanie Harrington, president and CEO of Vibrant Pittsburgh.
“The diverse line up of local talent promises to keep our guests entertained throughout the evening,” said co-chair of the coalition, Carlotta Paige.
The purpose of the event is to promote unity and an appreciation and understanding of difference, inclusion and diversity. Respect, equality and dignity is also an important message the coalition hopes to leave with its guests.
This is the 21st Unity Celebration gathering, and the first to be held indoors.
“With the help of our sponsors, our steering committee, coalition members and members of our board, we expect to double event attendance this year,” said Rabbi Sara Perman, co-chair of the coalition.
