Each year, the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP) selects an organization they are associated with as the Affiliate of the Year to recognize outstanding efforts in moving the county mission forward.
The 2017 Outstanding Affiliate of the Year Award was presented to the full membership of the Pennsylvania Children and Youth Administrators (PCYA) for their superior efforts pertaining to the challenges of increased child protection laws, including funding and staffing issues. PCYA President Shara Saveikis, of the Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau, received the award for the organization.
Shara shared:
As the Pennsylvania Children and Youth Board President, it was quite humbling and an absolute honor to be able to accept this award on behalf of all of the amazing Children and Youth Administrators in the Commonwealth.
In my 24 year child welfare career, I had the opportunity to work in several positions, in both the public and private sectors. I can definitively say that these are the most dedicated, compassionate and selfless individuals. In the difficult work they do every day, they are all still willing to help and assist each other for the greater good toward improving our outcomes for children and families.
They are the most deserving recipient of this award, and I am grateful and honored to have them as my colleagues and friends.
Brian C. Bornman, PCYA Executive Director added,
I would like to second that sentiment and say that I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such a dedicated and caring group of people. Thank you for all you do each day. This award is well deserved.
