Wolf Administration Assists Veterans In Need Of Important Military Paperwork: 

Leaving the military can be a hectic and stressful time. Through all the commotion, veterans often forget how important it is to properly record and safeguard their most important military paperwork – the DD-214. That is where the Wolf Administration’s Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) can help. Read more.

 Around the State 

Out Of The Darkness Walks Throughout Pennsylvania: 

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is requesting volunteers to be the military point of contact for the following walks: Athens Walk, Elk County Walk, Clinton County Walk, Erie Walk, Huntingdon County Walk, Harrisburg Walk, Greater Northeast Walk, Sunbury Walk, Lewistown Walk and Greater Lycoming County Walk. AFSP is a civilian non-profit organization committed to raising awareness, funding scientific research, and providing resources and aids to those affected by suicide. Your role will be to assist the veterans, service members, and their families who come to the table with the resources. You will share what it is like to be in the military and how to support the health and well-being of all service members and veterans. Pennsylvania Children Of The Wounded And Fallen Patriot Scholarship Deadline Is August 1st: 

The Pennsylvania Children of the Wounded and Fallen Patriot Scholarship is a one-time $25,000 scholarship awarded to the dependent child of a military service member who was wounded in the line of duty or died while serving with the United States Military since Sept. 11, 2001. Scholarship Aid Available For Disabled Veterans: 

DAV Chapter 11, Dickson City, will offer a $500 scholarship to disabled veterans in need of higher education. Applicants must reside between Dickson City and the Simpson area, PA. Write to DAV Scholarship Committee, 901 Enterprise St., Dickson City, PA (Lackawanna County), 18519.

Retired Farmer Drives Across U.S. For Wounded Veterans: 

After pulling alongside Ivan Stoltzfus’ tractor at a red light at the intersection of Main and Washington streets in Goshen, a driver stepped out of her car to donate money and snapped a quick photo. “She told me that she wanted to help. Everybody waited on her until she got back in her car. It was so nice. I didn’t want her to get hurt,” Stoltzfus said. Read more.

U.S. Soldiers Welcome Afghan Translator Who Saved Their Life: 

The soldiers who served with him in Afghanistan call him "Fred." Fraidoon Akhtari participated in more than 500 combat missions, translating for the U.S. military for the past 13 years. Read more.

Governor Wolf Announces 50 New Manufacturing Jobs Coming To Luzerne County Through New Mickey Truck Bodies, Inc. Location: 

Gov. Tom Wolf announced that Mickey Truck Bodies, Inc., a manufacturer of state-of-the-art delivery equipment, will establish a new site in Salem Township, Luzerne County and will create 50 new manufacturing jobs over the next three years. Read more.

Governor Wolf Announces Expansion Of The New York Blower Company Facility In Lawrence County Will Create 22 Manufacturing Jobs: 

Gov. Tom Wolf announced that The New York Blower Company (NYB) will be expanding its manufacturing facility in New Castle, PA (Lawrence County), which will create 22 new Pennsylvania manufacturing jobs. Read more.

Governor Wolf Announces Logistics Plus, Inc. To Expand And Create 44 New Jobs In The City Of Erie: 

Gov. Tom Wolf announced that Logistics Plus, Inc., a worldwide supply chain management company, will expand its headquarters in Erie, PA and will create 44 new jobs. Read more.

Penn State Hershey Medical Center: 

The Penn State Hershey Medical Center is currently recruiting for a Biomed Equipment Technician. Requires associates degree in Biomedical, Electronics Technology or equivalent required (e.g military BMET training) and six months related experience in servicing biomedical equipment (additional requirements listed in job posting). Position is located in Hershey, PA.

FedEx Ground Is Hiring Package Handlers: 

Package handlers load, unload, lift, carry, push, pull, bend, squat, and move packages of varying weights. If hired, package handlers will be required to unload approximately 1,000 packages per hour, or load as many as 400 packages per hour, at a fast pace and in varying temperatures. Package handlers hours fluctuate, two to five hours per day, five days per week – depending on package volume. Hourly pay ranges from $10.45-$12.05 – depending on shift and location. Apply.
