The annual August Fun Fest will take place at Cedar Creek Park on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 10:00am to 6:00pm. There’s something for everyone with great food, fun entertainment, and lots of children’s rides and amusements. This event is free to the public and offers free parking.
Headlining this year’s August Fun Fest are The Magic Moments, performing at the amphitheater at 11:00am and 1:00pm. A Legends Rock ‘n Roll Review, The Magic Moments are dedicated to the sounds of the early legends of Rock ‘n Roll! The band will take you back to enjoy a “Rock and Roll” extravaganza!
Also featured at August Fun Fest is Magician Steve Haberman. Steve will surprise audiences with a unique blend of sleight-of-hand, comedy, mindreading, and stunning larger than life illusions! Show times are 11:30am, 2:30pm, and 4:30pm.
That Guy With The Birds will be showing off his feathered friends at 10:30am, 1:30pm, and 3:30pm. With music, magic, and hands on interaction, get an up-close adventure with these intelligent creatures! Entertaining as well as educational, That Guy With The Birds is sure to delight crowds young and old.
A Pittsburgh Pirate alumni player will be on hand for autograph sessions from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Bring your cameras and get a photo with a legendary Pirate!
The Road Kings Car Club will host the giant August Fun Fest Show Car Cruise, with over 500 antiques, hot rods, modifieds, stock cars, and commercials! No motorcycles are permitted. The show features all types of cars up to 2017 models and has been highlighted in Hot Rod News magazine. Show cars can enter beginning at 9:00am.
The Mid-Mon Valley Model Railroad Club will be displaying their modular train layout at Pavilion 16. This display will depict the Mid-Mon Valley and some of the more important industries throughout history.
Five local musical groups will be featured in a cavalcade of bands at Pavilion #1. Groups performing include Perry’s Union at 12:00pm, Wally Ginger’s Orchestra at 2:00pm, The Townsmen Plus One at 3:00pm, Pittsburgh Big Band Legends at 4:00pm, and the Andy Gregg Country Combo at 5:00pm.
Kids can have fun all day with an All Day Ride Pass for only four dollars! Children can purchase the Pass and get unlimited access to all carnival rides, horse drawn trolley rides, and a petting zoo. Other attractions at the festival include an arts and crafts show with over 40 vendors and craftsmen, a flea market, a chainsaw sculptor, bingo, and various group demonstrations.
August Fun Fest is a Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation special
event, and is sponsored by the Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce, the Road Kings Car Club, and the Mon Valley Independent.
