Troops to Tractors invites members of the military and veteran communities who are interested in agriculture, or who are current farmers, to Veteran Farm Field Day. Presentations on agribusiness plans, soil productivity, loan and cost share programs, and poultry will be presented. A picnic will follow the workshops. Come out and meet Sgt. Larry Daugherty and learn about his heritage pork and beef, and meet your fellow veteran farmers and agribusiness operators.

Graduate Students Take On Special Projects Benefiting Community Veterans:
Samantha Schaffer and Tyler Patton, students in Penn State Harrisburg’s master of professional accounting program in the School of Business Administration, recently completed projects benefiting local veterans’ organizations. As part of a special topics course, the students assisted two organizations with creating bylaws and gaining tax-exempt statuses from the state and federal governments. Read more.
Pennsylvania Children Of The Wounded And Fallen Patriot Scholarship:
The Pennsylvania Children of the Wounded and Fallen Patriot Scholarship is a one-time $25,000 scholarship awarded to the dependent child of a military service member who was wounded in the line of duty or died while serving with the United States Military since Sept. 11, 2001. Wharton Executive Education Prepares To Educate High Performance Veterans Through The Business Foundations Specialization Series:
The Aresty Institute of Executive Education of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania is preparing to educate 50 transitioning veterans through the Wharton Online Business Foundations Specialization series. Wharton has partnered with VETTED, a new Texas-based non-profit targeting high-performance military service members and veterans for accelerated executive education to prepare them for successful careers in the private sector. On The Gettysburg Anniversary, A Cannon In R.I. Has A Story To Tell:
Misfortune felled Rhode Island artillerymen during the Battle of Gettysburg as they tried to fire their weapon. The damaged gun sits today in the Rhode Island State House in Providence. Most people who come to the State House are there on business. So as they pass through security, they might not notice its treasures, including one of the cannons that sits near the main visitors entrance. Read more.
VA Secretary Shulkin Unveils World’s Most Advanced Commercial Prosthesis:
Secretary of Veterans Affairs David J. Shulkin, M.D., unveiled the world’s most advanced commercial prosthetic — the Life Under Kinetic Evolution (LUKE) arm — during a recent visit to the VA New York Harbor Health Care System’s Manhattan campus. The event also included a demonstration of the technology by the first veteran amputees to receive the device. Read more.
