Franklin Regional’s Greg Botta coached the Big 33 Football Classic a few years ago, so he already knew to expect the two-a-day practices in the Harrisburg heat. Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund Announces $200,000 In New Awards - Two PA Veteran Farmers Receive Awards:
Military veterans turned farmers from around the country received a major boost as Farmer Veteran Coalition announced $200,000 in new awards for the Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund. Fifty farmer veterans representing all military branches and multiple service-eras were notified via email that they were awarded a 2017 Fellowship, bringing the total amount awarded in the program’s history to more than $1.5 million. The Pennsylvania Children of the Wounded and Fallen Patriot Scholarship is a one-time $25,000 scholarship awarded to the dependent child of a military service member who was wounded in the line of duty or died while serving with the United States Military since Sept. 11, 2001. Plans Forming For Sept. 23 Honor Flight:
Area veterans who missed the Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. in May, haven’t missed their chance to see the national memorials built in their honor. The Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight hub is planning another flight for Sept. 23, 2017, and veterans in the McKean/Potter county area are invited to join them.
