[ARCHIVED] Controller’s Office garners National Honors for the 30th consecutive year

The Westmoreland County Controller’s Office has been recognized for the 30th straight year for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association.

This is the highest form of recognition afforded to governments for financial reporting.

Westmoreland County Controller Jeffrey Balzer made the following comments at a recent Commissioner’s meeting:

“I wish to thank the members of the Westmoreland County Controller’s Office past and present for their dedication and professionalism.  I am honored to lead such a fine team of professionals.

I would be remiss in my comments if I did not recognize the past Controllers who have been similarly recognized for this accomplishment.  Controller Tom Tangretti, Controller Jeff Pavetti and my predecessor, Controller Carmen Pedicone all are to be commended for their commitment to professional reporting standards.  Like so many leaders, I stand on the shoulders of my predecessors and I truly appreciate what they have done for Westmoreland County government by their service.

I am also pleased to announce the 8th consecutive Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting.  This award is for the Citizen’s Financial Report, a concise financial summary produced in a layman friendly way.  We are continually trying to put more and better information in to the hands of Westmoreland County taxpayers to enhance their understanding of county Government.”
