If you are new to fishing or just want to give it a try, there’s good news. This year the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has designated Monday, May 27th (Memorial Day) and Thursday, July 4th (Independence Day) as “Fish for Free” days. On these days only, any resident or nonresident may legally fish in Pennsylvania without having to purchase a fishing license. All other fishing regulations apply. This does not give an individual the right to trespass on private property without permission.
This is a perfect opportunity to introduce you or a friend or relative to the lifelong sport of fishing and all the benefits that go along with a relaxing day outdoors. County and State Parks often support fishing. For more information, contact the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission at 814-445-8974 or www.fish.state.pa.us.
