In response to the recent instances of trespassing at the former Monsour Medical Center building in Jeannette, the Westmoreland County Land Bank, the owner of the property, and the City of Jeannette Police Department today issued the following statement:
We consider these offenses to be very serious. There are numerous dangerous conditions in and around this structure. Trespassing could cause harm to those committing the offense and also to the community at- large. If violators are apprehended, the Westmoreland County Land Bank intends to press charges to the fullest extent of the law, including felony charges if applicable. The Jeannette Police Department intends to prosecute these crimes. Protection of the community is our greatest concern. We are hopeful that the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation will soon come to an agreement with the Westmoreland County Land Bank so that demolition of this dangerous structure can occur.
