Westmoreland County has begun a total upgrade of its integrated Financial and Payroll/Human Resources systems. The project, which is estimated to Go-Live in the Fall of 2015, is the first upgrade of this magnitude in over 23 years. The Project will address all areas of the county including, Financial Accounting, Government Reporting, Grant Reporting, Project Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounting Payable, Contract Management, Payroll, Retirement, Human Resource Administration, Cash Management, Revenue Accounting, Budget Planning and Administration, Procurement, and Capital Asset Management.
The new system is a Microsoft Windows, browser-based system as opposed to the IBM iSeries (AS/400) based system currently in place. The county elected to stay with its current system provider, New World System of Troy, Michigan.
The Westmoreland County Controller’s Office, along with the Information Systems Department and The Department of Human Resources are serving lead roles in the project. Aside from getting the system off of the iSeries platform, the system is designed to deliver among a number of improvements, greater reporting functionality, increased accessibility for job applicants, employees and vendors, more robust Human Resource functionality and enhanced Grant accounting features.
