Developmental Trauma Disorder
Friday, August 23, 2019
Developmental Trauma Disorder is a concept that was developed by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and his colleagues to better define the symptomology that children suffer from as a result of multiple, chronic, prolonged, and developmentally adverse traumatic events of an interpersonal nature, as the effects of these traumas can be more complex than with PTSD. Developmental Trauma Disorder has not yet been accepted into the DSM-V, but it has gained the recognition and support of many of the leading psychiatrists in the world today. When youth face multiple traumas in childhood, these youth will need very specific treatments to address their complex trauma related issues. This training will educate participants on the causes and symptoms of Developmental Trauma Disorder, and the various treatments that can be utilized to effectively combat it.
