March for Parks

The 19th annual March for Parks fundraiser is taking a new approach in 2021! Due to pandemic precautions, we aren’t able to host our traditional March for Parks event at 2 locations with festivities and food. Instead, the 2021 MFP will have a more widespread opportunity to support all 10 of our parks and 5 trails on Saturday, March 27, 2021!

What is the March for Parks?
The March for Parks is a fun event to raise money for new park & trail projects in Westmoreland County. Marchers collect contributions individually or as a team of three or more (dogs are welcome to participate, too!).

How will the MFP work in 2021?
On Saturday, March 27, marchers will have a more widespread opportunity to support their parks and trails. We will have 9 locations around Westmoreland County for marchers to check-in with their donations:
  • Twin Lakes Park (Greensburg)
  • Northmoreland Park (Apollo)
  • Cedar Creek Park (Belle Vernon)
  • Mammoth Park (Mt. Pleasant)
  • Bridgeport Dam Park (Mt. Pleasant area)
  • Westmoreland Heritage Trail (multiple locations)
  • Ann Rudd Saxman Nature Park (Donohoe Road, Greensburg)
  • Historic Hanna's Town (History Education Center)
When you register at one of these 9 locations on March 27:

  • Check-in any time TBD
  • Turn in all donations and contributions
  • Pick up your t-shirt or doggie bandana if you turn in $30 or more
  • Purchase a raffle ticket or sign up for a silent auction for a chance to win some great prizes!
  • March/walk/explore at your convenience!
Online registration will be available soon!

What projects are we fundraising for?
Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation is planning lots of new projects in our community, such as:
  • Westmoreland Heritage Trail – closing the “middle gap” from Export to Delmont, land acquisition, planning, construction, and maintenance along the trail
  • Twin Lakes Park – improvements to the Dog Park, renovating lake walls and pathways for improved fishing and walking
  • Northmoreland Park Master Plan projects - destination playground, upgrades to athletic fields, kayak launch and improvements to lake walkways
  • All Parks – improvements to playgrounds, renovating restrooms to become flushable, resurfacing parking lots and roadways
The Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation Citizens Advisory Board, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and donations to it are tax deductible (ID #25-1895187). There are no goods or services provided in return for a contribution.

If you can't attend the March, but would still like to contribute, please send a check made payable to
