Founded in 1773, it is the second largest county in southwestern Pennsylvania. The county encompasses over 1,000 square miles of varied topography with a highly stable and growing population of 365,000.

This thriving county offers direct access to interstate highways, rail service, and the impressive Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. In addition, the Pittsburgh International Airport is less than an hour away and the City of Pittsburgh, the country's largest inland port, is only a 30-minute drive.

Southwestern Pennsylvania RegionOver the years, southwestern Pennsylvania has been an area of varied definition. Today it is most often defined as 10 counties which are the domain of the Southwest Pennsylvania Commission (SPC), a regional planning organization whose board is made up of elected officials from all 10 counties. SPC's mission includes special responsibilities for regional highway development.

Southwestern Pennsylvania consists of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
