The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ensured the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines. The requirements to show that the vaccines are functional and safe have been met, even with a quicker process and an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). For more information on the vaccine approval process visit: Emergency Use Authorizations Explained.
Additionally, the CDC has two tools: v-safe, (a new smartphone-based, post vaccination health checker) and VAERS (an online portal to report adverse vaccine reactions), that provide another layer of safety monitoring to increase our ability to rapidly detect any safety issues with the COVID-19 vaccines.
After COVID-19 vaccination, you may have some side effects. This is a normal sign that your body is building protection. The side effects from COVID-19 vaccination may feel like the flu and could impact your ability to do daily activities; they should subside in a few days.
