COVID-19 Cases in Westmoreland County

March 1, 2021

Based on the current downward trend of COVID-19 cases, the focus on the vaccine and the Governor’s latest announcement easing mitigation efforts, Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety has discontinued providing daily case graphics on this webpage.

Westmoreland County greatly appreciates their diligent efforts to provide daily statistical information for county residents over such an extended time period.

Westmoreland County case data can still be viewed by accessing the PA Department of Health COVID-19 Dashboard and select the county data at the bottom to view county specific data.

CORONER vs. PA DOH Death Count:
The Coroner’s report of deaths is an accurate report of the deaths that actually occurred within Westmoreland County, whether that be within the hospital, a nursing home, or residence.

The reason the PA DOH is reporting more deaths is because under a pandemic their reporting is done via residency. Therefore even if the death occurred in a hospital or nursing home in another county, as long as that individual still maintains a street address in Westmoreland County it gets added to our County’s total.
