Mammoth Park Giant Slide Complex

Safety Enhancements at the Mammoth Park Giant Slide Complex

The Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation has made several safety enhancements to the Mammoth Park Giant Slide Complex to further improve the park experience for visitors.

Enhancements made at the complex include:

- Additional rubber safety surfacing at the slide landing areas, cargo net, and traverse course rock scramble
- Installation of video surveillance cameras
- Additional signage to further explain rules and regulations, and to highlight the amenities at the site
- Cable barriers to identify traverse course rock scramble area
- Additional steps and railings to viewing areas

The Mammoth Park Giant Slide Complex will reopen Tuesday, June 15, 2021.

Visitors are strongly encouraged to review the facility rules posted on the Westmoreland County Parks website prior to visiting; rules are also posted at the site. Daily park hours are 9:00 a.m. to dusk. Click here to review the Giant Slide Complex Rules before you go!

This one-of-a-kind destination facility includes two, approximately 100-foot long stainless steel slides and a 40-foot long plastic slide for younger visitors. Climbing back to the top is just as fun and challenging as the ride down with a "scramble" climbing path and cargo net. This facility is ADA-accessible with seating, natural landscaping, and plenty of photo opportunities.

Mammoth Park is located in Mount Pleasant Township, and is accessible via routes 981 and 982. Click here for more detailed driving directions.

Mammoth Park Giant Slide Ambassadors Program

With the re-opening of the Mammoth Park Giant Slide Complex, Westmoreland County Parks launched its ‘Mammoth Park Giant Slide Ambassadors’ program to educate visitors on how to properly use the slides and to promote safety. These ambassadors are a mix of volunteers and Parks staff, and will be wearing bright orange shirts, parks logo shirts or badges. Ambassadors will be at the Giant Slide Complex periodically to help everyone have fun and answer any questions visitors may have (however, if you have an issue or emergency, please contact the Westmoreland County Park Police). The next time you’re visiting the Mammoth Park Giant Slide Complex, be sure to say ‘hello’ to our ambassadors!

On November 4, 2018, Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation celebrated the original Mammoth Park Giant Slide’s 45-year history at the “Last Slide Ride” event.  This event was visitors’ last chance to ride the original Giant Slide before it closed to make way for the new slide facility. The original Giant Slide had been a part of local fun for more than two generations, and enjoyed by thousands of children and adults.
