Human Services Block Grant


The Human Services Block Grant consists of six categorical funding streams that allow counties the flexibility to decide where the money is needed most. These are:
• Mental Health Community Programs
• Intellectual Disabilities Community Based 
• Homeless Assistance Program
• Act 152
• Behavioral Health Services Initiative
• Human Services Development Fund (Safety Net Funding)

Westmoreland County will receive $17,086,672 in Block Grant funding for fiscal year 2016-17. During this fiscal year, Human Service programs will touch 52,760 Westmoreland County residents.

On March 21 and April 8, 2016, the Westmoreland County Human Services Department held a public hearing regarding the Block Grant. Providers, community members, and county employees joined WCHS to discuss Block Grant objectives and offer opinions. See the public hearing presentation here:
