Pennsylvania House Bill 264 (now Act 33) requires that anyone who intends to bid at a scheduled upset sale or judicial sale MUST appear and register at the Tax Claim bureau not less than 10 days before the scheduled sale. Read on...
The Tax Claim Bureau is mandated by the Pennsylvania real estate taxation laws to collect delinquent taxes and to conduct tax sales. The department collects county, municipal and school taxes for all years prior to the current year, for all 65 districts in Westmoreland County.
The Tax Claim Bureau sells properties with two or more years of delinquent taxes in an upset sale; then if the property does not sell it will go to a judicial sale. This is to get the property back on the tax rolls.
