March for Parks

Celebrate Westmoreland County’s 250th Anniversary at the annual March for Parks fundraiser at Twin Lakes Park! There will be live entertainment, fun activities for kids and adults, tasty food and refreshments, and other surprises! Form a team of friends and family to raise money to support our parks and trails. Donate $30 and get a special anniversary t-shirt! The March for Parks is a special fundraising event sponsored by the Westmoreland County Parks & Recreation Citizens Advisory Board.

April 2023

1     First Day of Trout Season

Trout season kicks off at Loyalhanna Gorge, Bridgeport Dam, Chestnut Ridge Dam, Mammoth, Northmoreland, and Twin Lakes Parks. Bait is available for sale and visitors can rent boats at the Twin Lakes Boathouse. Bait vending machines are available at Northmoreland, Mammoth, and Cedar Creek Parks.

23    Mammoth Park Fishing Derby

A free event for anglers of all ages from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to both adults and youth. A door prize drawing will be held for all registered participants.

May 2023

2-12    Westmoreland County Senior Games

An Olympic-style competition for senior sports men and women ages 50 and over. Over thirty events including boccie, bowling, cornhole, golf, pickle ball, and shuffleboard are offered at Mammoth Park and various Greensburg locations. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to winners in each age bracket.

21  Northmoreland Park Fishing Derby

A free event for anglers of all ages from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to both adults and youth. A door prize drawing will be held for all registered participants.

June 2023

Summer Concert Series Begins

Free concerts featuring local musicians and groups will be held on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the summer at the Brian T. Rusnock Amphitheater at Twin Lakes Park and the Amphitheater at Cedar Creek Park. Visit the Concert Series event page for the complete schedule.


4   Mammoth Fest

Admission and parking are free at this giant festival at picturesque Mammoth Park from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The event features an arts and crafts show, food, music and entertainment for the whole family. For only $4, kids may purchase an “All Day Activity Pass” and receive unlimited access to carnival rides, kiddie train rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, and more!

18  Twin Lakes Father's Day Fishing Derby

A free event for anglers of all ages from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to both adults and youth. A door prize drawing will be held for all registered participants.

July 2023 

June 29, 30 July 1, & 2   Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Festival

The annual Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival will take place at Twin Lakes Park and includes over 50 live performances, 220 arts and craft exhibitors, heritage and history demonstrations, and ethnic food booths. Festival hours are 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. Visit www.artsandheritage.com or call (724) 834-7474.

15   Five Star Trail Poker Run

Participants can choose a four-mile walk or twelve-mile bike ride on the Five Star Trail with five stops along the Trail to collect a full poker hand. The event begins at Lynch Field at 9:00 a.m. and it's not a race! The top three poker hands receive a trophy and prizes. Visit the Poker Run page for more information.

August 2023

6   August Fun Fest

Visit Cedar Creek Park for this free festival from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The event includes a huge car show cruise, an arts and crafts marketplace, music, entertainment, a flea market and delicious food. For only $4, children may purchase an “All Day Activity Pass” and receive unlimited access to carnival rides, a petting zoo, kiddie train rides, bounce houses, and more.

September 2023

3 & 4  Labor United Celebration

This two-day extravaganza at Northmoreland Park from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, and 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Monday is free to the public. The event includes a giant flea market, great food, an arts and crafts show, and a variety of musical performances. For only $4 children may purchase an “All Day Activity Pass” and receive unlimited access to carnival rides, a petting zoo, kiddie train rides, circus shows, bounce houses, and more!

21    Green Luncheon

The Green Luncheon is a recognition event held in honor of all of the many individuals, groups, and businesses that continue to support the Citizens Advisory Board and Westmoreland County Parks and Trails.

October 2023

21  Hobgoblin Hike at Cedar Creek Park

A ½ mile outdoor Halloween walk in the haunted woods from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Recommended for ages eight and over. Admission is free. Responsible volunteers are needed for trail guides and scare stations.
