March for Parks


Due to pandemic precautions, the March for Parks is taking a new approach in 2021! There will be a more widespread opportunity to support Westmoreland County's parks and trails at 9 different locations. Participants can check-in with their donations, pick up their official MFP t-shirt or doggie bandana, and then march/walk/explore whenever it's convenient for them! Be sure to pick up a "Parks Passport" and visit all of our 10 parks and 5 trails and have a chance to win some great prizes. The March for Parks is a special fundraising event sponsored by the Westmoreland County Parks & Recreation Citizens Advisory Board.

April 2021

3     First Day of Trout Season


Trout season kicks off at Loyalhanna Gorge, Bridgeport Dam, Chestnut Ridge Dam, Mammoth, Northmoreland, and Twin Lakes Parks. Bait is available for sale and visitors can rent boats at the Twin Lakes Boathouse. Bait vending machines are available at Northmoreland, Mammoth, and Cedar Creek Parks.

25  Mammoth Park Fishing Derby - CANCELLED


A free event for fishermen of all ages from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to both adults and youth. A door prize drawing will be held for all registered participants.

4-14  Westmoreland County Senior Games - CANCELLED


An Olympic-style competition for senior sports men and women ages 50 and over. Over thirty events including boccie, bowling, cornhole, golf, pickle ball, and shuffleboard are offered at Mammoth Park and various Greensburg locations. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to winners in each age bracket.

23  Northmoreland Park Fishing Derby


A free event for fishermen of all ages from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to both adults and youth. A door prize drawing will be held for all registered participants.

June 2021


Summer Concert Series Begins


Free concerts featuring local musicians and groups will be held on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the summer at the Brian T. Rusnock Amphitheater at Twin Lakes and the Amphitheater at Cedar Creek Parks. Visit the Concert Series event page for the complete schedule.


6 Mammoth Fest


Admission and parking are free at this giant festival at picturesque Mammoth Park from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The event features an arts and crafts show, food, music and entertainment for the whole family. For only $4, kids may purchase an “All Day Activity Pass” and receive unlimited access to carnival rides, horse drawn trolley rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, and more!

20  Twin Lakes Father's Day Fishing Derby


A free event for fishermen of all ages from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to both adults and youth. A door prize drawing will be held for all registered participants.

1-4   Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Festival - CANCELLED


The annual Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival will take place at Twin Lakes Park and includes over 50 live performances, 220 arts and craft exhibitors, heritage and history demonstrations, and ethnic food booths. Festival hours are 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. Visit www.artsandheritage.com or call (724) 834-7474.

17   DIY Five Star Trail Poker Run


Walk, bike, or run on the Five Star or Westmoreland Heritage Trail - no cards, no scoring, just flexible fun! Start and finish wherever it's convenient for you. $20 initial registration (includes t-shirt). Pick up your shirt at Huff Avenue from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. 8   August Fun Fest


Visit Cedar Creek Park for this free festival from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The event includes a huge car show cruise, an arts and crafts marketplace, music, entertainment, a flea market and delicious food. For only $4, children may purchase an “All Day Activity Pass” and receive unlimited access to carnival rides, a petting zoo, horse drawn trolley rides, bounce houses, and more.

5 & 6  Labor United Celebration


This two-day extravaganza at Northmoreland Park from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, and 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Monday is free to the public. The event includes a giant flea market, great food, an arts and crafts show, and a variety of musical performances. For only $4 children may purchase an “All Day Activity Pass” and receive unlimited access to carnival rides, a petting zoo, horse drawn trolley rides, circus shows, bounce houses, and more!

16   Green Luncheon


The Green Luncheon is a recognition event held in honor of all of the many individuals, groups, and businesses that continue to support the CAB and Westmoreland County Parks and Trails.

6  You've Got A Friend Day


A fun day of activities for students with special needs at Twin Lakes Park from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students are paired up with volunteers from local schools for activities such as boating, fishing, petting zoo, hay rides and more! Responsible volunteers are needed to assist the children.

16  Hobgoblin Hike at Cedar Creek Park


A ½ mile outdoor Halloween walk in the haunted woods from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Recommended for ages eight and over. Admission is free. Responsible volunteers are needed for trail guides and scare stations.
