Background / Bio

Jeffrey Balzer was born in Swissvale and lived there for 37 years. He is the son of Ted and Judy Balzer and he was raised with his five sisters and brother. Jeff moved to Westmoreland County 10 years ago. He went to California Institute of the Arts as a theatre major and spent 20 years managing automotive dealerships and selling products and services to the automotive industry. He has owned his own Public Adjusting company for the past three years.

Responsibilities

The mission of the Westmoreland County controller's office is to provide independent oversight of the financial affairs of Westmoreland County as prescribed by law and regulation with the aim of promoting accountability and efficiency in our fiscal operations and doing so with a spirit of "full disclosure".

Services

The Office of the Controller carries out its mission through five discrete departmental units: Administrative, Accounts Payable / Contract Compliance, General Accounting, Payroll / Retirement and Internal Auditing.

Our objective is to service our "customers" (the public, vendors, auditees, county departments, and employees) pleasantly and professionally.
