Commissioner Sean Kertes was elected to office in November of 2019 and serves as Chairman of the Board. He began his career as the Westmoreland County Deputy Treasurer in 2012. In 2016, he continued his career in public service as Chief of Staff to retired Commissioner Charles Anderson. Commissioner Kertes is a graduate of Hempfield Area High School and California University of Pennsylvania. Sean Kertes is the co-founder of Grow Westmoreland which is a non-profit organization operating in and serving Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. The program's focus is to provide training and scholarship opportunities for local individuals ages 18-25 that are interested in careers in agriculture and skilled labor. He resides in the City of Greensburg.
Commissioners oversee the Westmoreland Manor, County Prison, Juvenile Detention, all of the County Parks as well as a 2000+ person workforce. The commissioners manage the fiscal affairs of the County and supervise the Area Agency on Aging and all departments that fall under Human Services.
The commissioners run the day to day operations of the County and they are entrusted to preserve and protect county resources such as our county parks.
