Summer Environmental Programs
Welcome to the Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation Summer Environmental Programs! A variety of day camps for kids and single day programs for the entire family have been designed to cover a variety of topics. Come experience the fun and get closer to nature in Westmoreland County's largest outdoor classrooms - our Parks!
2021 Summer Environmental Program offerings:
“ULTIMATE SURVIVOR” Camp
Ages 10-13, $50, 8am to 4pm
We’ve combined all of our greatest camps into one fun-filled, exciting camp! Live the experience you have watched on television and learn basic survival skills such as first aid procedures, fire building, creating shelters, and working as a team. Campers will compete in various activities such as capture the flag, minute-to-win-it games, and water balloon battles to see who emerges as the Ultimate Survivor! Space is limited.

“WILDLIFE EXPLORERS” Camp
Ages 6-10, $35, 8am to 4pm
Come out and explore the wildlife in our Westmoreland County Parks! Activities include learning about park weather, animal homes and habitats, critters big and small, animals in the water, and birds of the park. A fun way to learn about nature! Space is limited.

“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” Camp
Ages 10-14, $60, 8am to 3pm
Help solve the mystery at “CSI: Westmoreland County Parks" after learning about investigation techniques such as fingerprinting and making molds. You will even get a chance to partake in a thrilling investigation! Space is limited.
July 21-23 Twin Lakes Park

“WATER WARS” Camp
Ages 6-13, $25, 8am to 4pm
Beat the summer heat at 'Water Wars' Camp! Activities include water balloon battles, slip 'n slide races, water obstacle courses, and other outdoor water games. Bring your own water gun for extra fun! Space is limited.

"BE A BETTER BIRDER!"
(Presented by the Westmoreland Land Trust)
All Ages, FREE, 9am to 11am
This free, fun-filled, family event will introduce you to the skills and resources needed to grow your birdwatching skills. Participants will build a birdfeeder, learn some basic bird anatomy, and then use binoculars, field guides and new smartphone technologies to see, hear and identify some of the amazing birds living in, and passing through, our area. Children must be accompanied by at least 1 adult.
Saturday, August 14 Twin Lakes Park, Pavilion #3
“FAMILY LEARN TO FISH”
ALL AGES, $5/person, 8am to 12pm
Learn the basics of fishing such as how to cast, tie knots, and how to use different types of bait and hooks! Bait and some fishing equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own fishing rod and supplies. Get on a paddle boat on the lower lake and try to catch the big one! A light lunch will be provided after the program. Space is limited to 50 people.

Please register each child or family member individually.
if you would like to receive a registration form by mail and pay by check, please call (724) 830-3968. You will get a confirmation letter and “release and waiver of liability” upon receipt of your form.
Safety is our priority! COVID-19 guidelines will be outlined upon registration.
Register one child for a day camp at full price, and receive a $10 discount for each additional child registered in the same family.
Cancellations and Withdrawals:
Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel any programs. In that event, all fees will be refunded.
Refunds for withdrawal will be made up to one week before the program. A $10 handling fee will be deducted.
