The Evolution of the Peach Plaza Renderings

In 2006, the Citizens Advisory Board and the Westmoreland Street Park Alliance chose SITE design Group to design the skate plaza.

SITE hosted two public meetings with the Alliance members.  At the first meeting in July, SITE gave the Alliance four drawings of skate plazas they had designed in other areas of the country.  Click here to check out some pictures from the meeting.

After getting a lot of good feedback, SITE provided two renderings A & B (below) at the second meeting in August.

The Alliance then combined the best elements from A and B.  The result was a new draft called the Westmoreland Rendering (below).

Finally, after the park was named "Peach Plaza," the final drawing was created.

It has been an interesting process to get to this point, and now that Phase I of the West Recreation Area is complete, we look forward to the planning and construction of Phases II and III.

All of the hard work put in by the Westmoreland Street Park Alliance, the County Parks Planning Staff, and the Parks Citizens Advisory Board has finally paid off!

With the help of all of our generous funding sources - foundations, state and federal grants, and the Peach family, construction on the Peach Plaza Skate Facility and other amenities in Phase One of the Twin Lakes Expansion project has been completed.

Special thanks also to our two professional consulting firms that have been working very hard to make this project a reality - JT Sauer and Associates and SITE Design Group.

We will post information on the Grand Opening Ceremony (Spring 2008) on this website.  While we do not plan to have the ceremony until the Spring, the park is now officially open for business.

When a community gets together to participate in projects like this, the success is always sweeter! When the people that benefit from a project help to bring it to life, the result has tremendous value. Get Involved If You Care!  We still need your help to make phases two and three of the park expansion a reality.
