Mammoth Park, a favorite picnic spot for Westmoreland County residents, contains a 24-acre fresh water lake stocked by the Pennsylvania Fish Commission. Some of the other notable attractions at the park include the giant slide creative play area, and the scenic overlook. The 96-foot high rustic giant slide has provided many thrilling rides to park visitors. Visitors looking out from the park’s scenic overlook will see a spectacular 10-mile panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.

Facilities
 
  • Mammoth Lake. A natural stopover for migrating waterfowl and a beautiful area for a lakeside picnic or hike. Stocked with trout by the PA Fish Commission, Mammoth Lake provides great fishing. When frozen, the lake serves as both an ice fishing and ice-skating facility.

  • Giant Slide-Creative Play Area. This unique 96’ giant slide is nestled into the hillside of Mammoth Park and has provided a thrilling ride for millions of adventuresome park visitors.

  • Scenic Overlook. A ten-mile view of the Mammoth Park countryside is available from this beautiful observation deck.

  • Ball field Complex. Mammoth Park is home to two of the finest softball/baseball fields in Westmoreland County, which are available by application for league, tournament, or pickup play. Soccer fields are also available in the complex.

  • Model Radio-Controlled Airfield. The Laurel Highlands R.C. Airplane Club operates the Mammoth Park R.C. Airfield. Park visitors will see a wide variety of models take to the airways of Mammoth Park.

  • Recreation Equipment. Boccie, horseshoes, and volleyball are available for rental. Ask at the Park Office.

  • Hunting. Portions of the park are open for hunting. The lakefront area is closed periodically in fall for waterfowl hunting.

  • World War II Veterans Memorial. The Memorial is located next to pavilion number 2 parking area.

  • Mountain Board Area. The Mammoth Park Mountain Board Course is operated by the Westmoreland Board Riders Alliance. For information call 724.872.5164.

  • Other facilities. Mammoth Park includes a basketball court, two tennis courts, a street hockey court, two boccie courts, two shuffleboard courts, toboggan/sled areas and play areas. Fishing decks are also available, some of which are handicapped accessible.

  • Pavilion Rental . Mammoth Park has 14 pavilions located throughout the park, which will accommodate groups up to 200. For information call 724.830.3950.
