Tax Claims Bureau
The Tax Claim Bureau collects delinquent real estate tax for all 65 districts in Westmoreland County. The Tax Claim Bureau will not accept personal checks or business checks. Payments may be made by cash, money order, cashier check, or certified check. In addition, we now accept credit and debit card payments online.

PLEASE NOTE: AUGUST 31, 2016  will be the last day to make an online payment before the Annual Sale.  SEPTEMBER 13, 2016 the online system will resume for credit card payments.

Delinquent Taxes
An agreement is available to those who have two-year delinquent taxes on their residences. To qualify for an agreement at least one of the following criteria must be met:
  • Is over the age of 65 and on a fixed income and unable to pay the taxes in full
  • Is a retiree unable to pay the taxes in full
  • Is on disability income or workmen’s compensation and unable to pay the taxes in full
  • Is a single parent who has his/her minor children residing with him/her and is unable to pay the taxes in full
  • Is unable to pay the taxes in full because of a serious physical illness or injury resulting in unemployment
  • Is unable to pay the taxes in full because of unemployment which occurred during the tax years for which the delinquent taxes were assessed or during the year immediately preceding any such delinquency

Agreements are accepted May 1 through September 30.

The Tax Claim Bureau also provides lien certifications which are a means of determining whether taxes are owed or have been paid for prior years. The cost for a lien certification is $15 per parcel.
