Laurel Area Faith in Action
Description
Volunteers assist Westmoreland County seniors by providing much needed services.  These services include but are not limited to:
  • Friendly Visits
  • Appointment escort
  • Handy person / minor repairs
  • Telephone reassurance
  • Caregiver relief
  • Errands / shopping
  • Referral assistance
  • Yard work / gardening

Friendly visitors may share a hobby or a cup of coffee, but most importantly, they listen to and talk with those who need companionship.

Qualities & Requirements
Volunteers should possess a high level of integrity, a desire to help seniors, good listening skills and a caring and sensitive attitude.

Volunteers are screened with a criminal background check.

They also attend volunteer orientation and training sessions and meet and network with other folks willing to make a difference.

Commitment
Simply visit or call a home-bound senior or seniors at a mutually-agreed upon time.  All it takes is about an hour a week.

Recognition
Volunteers choose the services they are willing to offer, they serve when convenient to their schedule, and are asked for a commitment of 2 hours a week.
