Jury Duty
Juror Service Center
Our Mission
To provide the Court of Common Pleas of Westmoreland County, in an ethical, efficient, and cost-effective manner, a pool of qualified jurors diverse in age, ethnic background, gender and life experience.

If you have been summoned to serve:
Step 1:  Submit Juror Questionnaire On-line (Required)

Step 2:  View Rules for Excusals & Postponements
(Optional, after completion of Step 1)

Please note that effective January 2016 pursuant to Pennsylvania Act 54 of 2015, Westmoreland County residents summoned for jury duty can request to be excused and will be exempted from service if the individual is:
  1. 75 years of age or older, or
  2. A judge, magisterial district judges of the Commonwealth and judges of the United States as defined in 28 U.S.C.  451, or
  3. A breastfeeding woman.

These exemptions are in addition to the exemptions currently identified on the juror qualification questionnaire and summons.

Step 3:  Check Your Juror Status (Required)
after 5:00 pm the work day before service date

Notification advising jurors whether they have to report for service based on juror number (printed on the summons) is accessible three ways:
  1. By recorded phone message at (724) 838-7000
  2. Website notification
  3. Sign up for text notification when submitting questionnaire (Step 1)

If the notification indicates you do not have to report for jury service, then you are excused and have fulfilled your jury service obligation for the year.
