  17. 18th Annual Celebrate Diversity Unity Rally

    October 21, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ St. Clair Park

    This year we are holding a community style “street fair” which will allow attendees to view and learn more about the true diversity of our community and hopefully a chance to interact more with one another than in previous years.

    For the first hour community groups will be managing tables that attendees can visit for information, a learning activity, a product, or a free sample of food. Theme related art work created by our area children will also be displayed throughout the park.

    During the second hour there will be a program of music and more on the Robertshaw Pavilion stage at the park. Of course we hope everyone will stay for the entire program. The rally will conclude with a procession to the courthouse.

    The Greensburg YMCA’s Friends of the Y Event is an upscale, yet relaxed event where Friends get together to support the Y and its mission in the community.     Concucted by Daniel Meyer, Artistic Director. The WSO makes education entertaining with special kid-focused concerts. This year's presentation features English composer Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra (1946). Britten’s work presents an overview of the whole orchestra and highlights individual instruments. The concert also includes Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4.   2. Stress In Adolescence

    October 24, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ The Westmoreland County Juvenile Services Center

    Research studies have been consistent in identifying stress as a significant issue for adolescents. Self reported studies show that many adolescents have witnessed or experienced violence in their homes or communities. Stress in Adolescence is a 20 session curriculum training designed for adolescents in any setting. Each 1 hour exercise is designed to be psycho-educational in nature and all free standing. Exercises are hands on and interactive, enabling the participant to feel comfortable and willing to share. This training is a one day experience for staff; at the conclusion, participants will be provided the 20 session curriculum and be certified as trainers to continue the experience within their organization!
