Pennsylvania conducts closed primary elections

Primary Election Voter Eligbility

Pennsylvania law requires a closed primary, meaning only voters registered as Democrats or Republicans will select nominees to represent their party in the November 7 general election. However, if there is a referendum that will be on the primary ballot, all registered voters may vote for the referendum regardless of party affiliation.
