|The Economic Growth Connection of Westmoreland (EGC) is a private, non-profit economic development corporation formed in January 2000. The EGC is membership based and governed by a board of directors.
The Economic Growth Connection works in cooperation with governmental agencies, chambers of commerce and financial institutions to support emerging and expanding companies in Westmoreland County. It offers assistance to companies considering a location in our region.
|The focus of the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Westmoreland (RACW) is on reenergizing the county’s core communities and enticing new business, residential, and recreational opportunities. By working closely with community leaders and volunteers, the RACW assists in community revitalization efforts and implements a multitude of programs that are designed and intended to remove blight and improve conditions for low-to-moderate income residents throughout Westmoreland County. Also, the RACW partners with local government and non-profit entities to implement impact projects in the county.|
|Recognized as a leader in Pennsylvania for industrial park development, the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation (WCIDC) is a non-profit corporation formed in October 1983 by the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners. WCIDC is governed by a board of directors, which are the County Commissioners.
Although the main focus of the WCIDC is the development of industrial parks, it is committed to supporting economic development efforts as the primary marketing agent for Westmoreland County.
|Urban and Regional Planning is the endeavor to create better communities through the expectation and management of change. It is the job of the Planning Division to help manage the economic, social and environmental issues that arise from such change.
We perform this role by analyzing data and information from a variety of sources. We identify trends, changes and conditions in our community and offer recommendations on how best to respond to them.
|The Community Development Division of the Department of Planning and Development strives to assist local elected officials, citizens, non-profit groups and developers in the planning and implementation of housing and community development projects. Utilizing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) funds as well as other state and federal resources, the Division is charged with administering these grants to provide decent, safe and affordable housing, a suitable living environment and expanded economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income in Westmoreland County.|
