Sheriff Jonathan Held was elected Westmoreland County Sheriff on November 8, 2011 and took office on January 2, 2012.
Jonathan graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelors degree, where he studied molecular biology and played football for the Pittsburgh Panthers. While studying in college, Jonathan worked at the Allegheny County Coroner's Office as an autopsy technician. In 1996, Jonathan was appointed as a constable in Westmoreland County, which is a position that he would hold for 16 years.
In his off time, Jonathan likes to be outdoors with his wife and three children. He is an avid sportsman and belongs to many of the sportsman's clubs in Westmoreland County. Jonathan is a life member of the National Rifle Association.
